Salvation Army Thankful For Community Help

To The Reader’s Forum:

On behalf of The Salvation Army of Jamestown. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the area organizations that continue to assist us with The Bundle-Them-Up project.

The Bundle-Them-Up program provides infant through school aged children with new or gently used jackets. Last year 255 children received warm winter wear through this program. This is critical since many of the recipients live in Jamestown, which is a walking district. Each year Rob Lind and the AM Rotary purchase new winter jackets and deliver them to The Salvation Army to distribute to children in need. Cummins Engine Plant assist us in a few different ways. During their recycle date, Cummins collects jackets for our program. Grant support has also been provided for The Salvation Army to purchase winter jackets. Anderson’s cleaners has supported our effort for multiple years by providing cleaning service to the gently used jackets that have been collected.

Many area public schools have graciously allowed us to place bins in their facilities. These facilities include Jamestown Public Schools, Maple Grove Central Schools, and Falconer Central Schools. All for Amy, a foundation created to memorialize Amy King, has decided to assist us with financial support this year. New collection sites this year include Jamestown Community College, Real Life Church and Bethel Baptist Christian Academy. Assistance from these area organizations allow us to continue this much needed program. Once again I would like to express my gratitude to these organizations that continue to help The Salvation Army provide jackets for area children. If you would like to know more about this program please feel free to contact Elizabeth or Crystal at 664-4108.
