Sonja Pascatore
Sonja Pascatore
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Sonja Pascatore on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025.
Born on Jan. 16, 1943, Sonja is survived by her husband, Peter Pascatore of Jamestown; her son, Paul Pascatore of Ocala, Fla.; her daughter, Amanda (Jon) Pascatore-Schmidt and grandson Liam of Gainesville, Fla.; and her daughter, Monica (Jon Leo) Pascatore and grandchildren Eva and Helge Bridge-Pascatore of Catonsville, MD. She is also survived by her brothers, Roy (Linda) Franson of Yorba Linda CA, and Milton (Winnie) Franson of Liverpool, NY; and brother-in-law Anthony Pascatore of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her son, Phil (Nadine) Pascatore of Kennedy, NY.
Sonja was an accomplished seamstress with an artistic flair for the Avante guard. This held true throughout her lifetime and developed further as her passion and dedication to her Swedish roots and heritage bloomed. She delighted in collecting and maintaining gorgeous Swedish folk costumes and intricate collectible embroidery works and also in creating custom pieces and patterns. She enjoyed both learning, and teaching others, about all-things related to Scandinavian cultures.
She had a lifelong love of gardening with a special passion for flowers. With this interest in nature, and especially healthy and profound connection to it, she advocated for natural healing and working with what she felt was “God’s Pharmacy”. She was a fearless activist who supported harmless management of our natural environment including a focus on our local watershed.
Sonja is a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School.
We will miss the creativity and passion you brought to our lives and to all those that were fortunate to know you.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2nd in the Lind Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3rd at the funeral home.
For her love of animals, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society at https://chqhumane.org/ . To leave a condolence please visit www.lindfuneralhome.com.
