John C. Schupp

A native of Jamestown, he was born Jan. 7, 1941, the son of the late Jerome and Edna Boedecker Schupp. He was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Columbia Bible College in South Carolina from 1968 to 1971.

From 1971 until 1982, John worked at Eliada Children’s Home in Asheville, NC. Returning to Jamestown, he worked for several years at Jones Tasty Baking until becoming employed at Quick Solutions Printing, retiring in 2021.

John was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and the Kiwanis Club of Jamestown. He was a past class reunion president as well as a devoted and long tenured board member of the JHS 100 Member Club.

Surviving is his wife, Candace “Candy” Jones Schupp whom he married Aug. 2, 1969; “daughters” Helen Teague Masters of Bluffton, SC and Jenell Patton of Erie, PA; brother-in-law, Todd Jonsson of Florida and sister-in-law, Robin (David) Conklin of Jamestown; and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Robert Stewart and stepsister, Mary Lou McKenna.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
