Livonia Malene (Donelson) Damcott

Livonia Malene (Donelson) Damcott

Livonia Malene (Donelson) Damcott, passed away on Monday January 30, 2023, at her home on Panama-Stedman Road in Ashville, N.Y., one day after her 96th birthday. Livonia was born to the late Charles and Susie (Solinger) Donelson on January 29, 1927, in Akeley, Pa., the youngest of nine children. She lived in the home her parents built outside of Panama for the last 30 years. Livonia graduated from Panama Central School in June of 1944. After graduation, she worked for Sylvania in Jamestown until the time she married Maynard Damcott on May 16, 1946 in Clymer. Together they operated two successful dairy farms between Sherman and Clymer until turning their business over to their sons in the early 1990’s. Livonia and Maynard each milked their own barn full of cows, with the help of their children living at home. Livonia and Maynard enjoyed spending winters in the Wauchula area of Florida for several years after leaving the farm and moving to Panama. Of the many things Livonia will be remembered for are the many pies (especially apple) and all the crocheted quilts that she made and gave to family and friends who stopped in to visit. There were always a couple of pies in the freezer for someone to enjoy. One of her sons was heard numerous times referring “to another of Ma’s God-awful pies” jokingly, because she was so sure they might not be up to her perfection every time. Don’t worry Mom, they were always delicious! Mom has lived out her life quietly as an exceptional daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend. She was a longtime member of the Clymer Hill Reformed Church.

Livonia is survived by: her daughters: Dianne Einink, of North Clymer, June Woodburn of Venice, FL., Sandra (William) Harvey, of Sherman, and Rebecca (Randy) Davis of Clymer; her sons: Ronald (Lois), of Sherman, Maynard, Jr. (Deborah) and Daniel (Ann) Damcott, both of Clymer, and son-in-law Duane Gabriel, of Sherman.

She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, one step-grandchild, twenty-nine great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Livonia was preceded in death by her husband on August 17, 1997. Siblings also going before her are: Gertrude Kelley, Clair, Paul, James, Elmer and Charles, Jr. Donelson, Verna Donelson and Mildred Swanson. Livonia was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Gabriel, on January 17, 2020, son-in-law, Jim Woodburn, on August 4, 2018, a granddaughter, Sarah Damcott, on April 22, 1988, and a granddaughter-in-law, Kimberly Einink, on March 30, 2004.
