Charles Kurt Weiss

Charles Kurt Weiss

Charles Kurt Weiss, 66, of Jamestown, NY died Saturday January 14, 2023, at UPMC Hamot, in Erie, PA. from complications with heart disease.

He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on September 5, 1956, the son of the late Charles Weiss, Jr. and the late Joan McColgan Weiss. They made their home in Bridgewater, Somerset County, a more rural area of New Jersey. There Kurt grew up, was an avid participant in the Boy Scouts and 4-H and became interested in agriculture by working on many of the surrounding horse and dairy farms. He graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School West and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA.

After graduation, Kurt worked as a farm manager for several local farms before transitioning into the business side of things as a loan officer for Farm Credit. This move took him out to western NY where he remained for the rest of his life. He continued his career in the financial field and became a financial advisor, employed over the years by Merrill Lynch, A.G. Edwards, Smith Barney, and Wells Fargo. He finished his career retiring from Wells Fargo Financial Advisors in Warren, PA.

Kurt was most proud of his daughters, Marisa and Gretchen. His involvement with their youth activities over the years led him to become an active volunteer at the local Girl Scout camp and a certified referee for youth and club soccer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed NASCAR racing and spending time at the local Friday night auctions finding underappreciated “treasures.” Kurt was also a self-proclaimed motorhead and could often be found tinkering with one of his cars in the driveway.

Kurt is survived by his daughters Marisa (Greg) Mee of Webster, NY and Gretchen (Patrick Brown) Weiss of Tucker, GA; two grandchildren Maisie and Teddy Mee and a sister Carol (Michael) Banigan of Oviedo, FL.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
