SHERMAN — The beloved Vicki J. (Cole) Ayers, 70, of Sherman, N.Y., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022.

She was born on Feb. 19, 1952, in Westfield, N.Y., the daughter of the late William and Elaine Smith Cole.

Vicki was a 1970 graduate of Sherman Central School and had attended college at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. She had worked as a self-employed home health care aid for many years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sherman, where she served on the Missionary Committee, the Library Committee, was a Sunday school teacher, a nursery attendant, an AWANA Leader, and a Release Time Teacher.

She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and attending Bible studies. She was also a longtime scorekeeper for Sherman High School basketball games and was the number one fan of her grandchildrens sporting events. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family.

Vicki is survived by her loving husband, Terry Lee Ayers, whom she married Sept. 3, 1971, at the Sherman First Baptist Church; two children; Kristina Christmas of Sherman, N.Y., and Kirk (Amanda) Ayers of Corry, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Katrina Christmas, Korey Ayers, Sabrina Christmas, Kamron Ayers, Khloie Ayers, Kegan Ayers and Karagan Ayers; four siblings: Kim (Gayle) Cole of Sherman, N.Y., Debbie (Steve) Tower of North East, Pa., Kevin Cole of Sherman, N.Y., and Todd (Kim) Cole of Sherman, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, David Scott Ayers; her parents; William and Elaine Smith Cole; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Cole.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Sherman (113 Church St, Sherman, NY 14781) with the funeral being held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, also at the church. The Rev. Timothy Minge and the Rev Paul Sears will officiate. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery.
