Richard W. Robbins

Richard W. Robbins ”Dick”, 88, of Mint Hill, N.C., formerly of Falconer, N.Y., passed away at home Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022. He was the husband of Barbara J. Robbins, whom he married April 24, 1954, and who passed away Jan. 13, 2022.

Dick was born Nov. 23, 1933, in the town of Busti, N.Y. He is a graduate of Falconer High School and served as staff sergeant in the New York National Guard. He and Barbara resided in the Falconer area where they raised their family. Dick coached Little League for several years and was active in the Falconer Lions Club, serving a term as president. He was owner of Robbins Veneer, a business he started with his father. After retirement from the veneer business, he and Barbara moved to Charlotte, N.C., in 1980. He then joined his son, Randy and close friend, Jerry Anderson in owning and operating Pizza, Etc. restaurants for several years.

Dick enjoyed traveling with Barb and many friends as they visited much of the United States, as well as Australia, New Zealand, and China.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Barbara; his daughter, Rhonda L. Lundberg; son-in-law, Robert L. Lundberg; grandson, Scott Lundberg; parents Albert and Lillian Robbins; sister Joyce and brother-in-law, Myril Ball; infant brother, Kenneth; and in-laws, Rudell and Elizabeth Nunn.

Dick is survived by his children: Rick (Julie) Robbins, Mooresville, N.C., Cindy (Rick) Springfield, Fair Play, S.C., Randy (Charlotte) Robbins, Mint Hill, N.C.; grandchildren: Katie (Tim) Barker, Kim (Rob) Pilon, Kelly (Sonny) Broadstreet, Lindsay Robbins, Lori Lundberg Robertson, Lisa Lundberg, Crista (John) Couchell, Ali Robbins and April (Trey) Johnson; great-grandchildren: Bryson Barker, Ansley Barker, Lily Broadstreet, Lucas Broadstreet, Wesley Adams, Elena Couchell, Sophia Couchell, Georgia Couchell and Iris Phillips; sister, Shirley (Don) Short; brother- in-law, Gail (Val) Nunn; and close friends: Jerry and Cindy Anderson, their children: Lt. Colonel Nick (Katie) Anderson, Jenny (Kevin) McMahan and Laura (Dustin) Papenburg.

A graveside service for Dick and Barbara will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2022, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227, followed by a celebration of life at the home of Randy Robbins.
