Karin Marie Martenson

It is with profound heartache that the family of Karin Marie Martenson, 59, shares the sad news of her passing on July 22, 2022, at Star Hospice House in Lakewood, N.Y.

She was born on June 2, 1963, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of Dr. Bruce and Alta Martenson.

Karin graduated from Jamestown High School, class of 1981. Following graduation she studied English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Buffalo. After relocating to Los Angeles, Calif., she worked as an events planner both there as well as in Norway. She eventually returned east, settling in Connecticut until her return home to Jamestown, NY in 2020.

Karin was a beautiful, loving, and compassionate person. She was passionate about everything and everyone she loved, but nothing came close to the devotion and adoration she had for her two children.

She was an avid music connoisseur and surrounded herself with beauty. Whether traveling the world, admiring art, reading a good book, or just looking out the window on a cozy rainy day, she was always aspiring to new forms of learning and goals.

Karin was preceded in death by her father, Bruce, in 2011.

She is survived by her mother; her children: Olivia Grace Goldberg and Griffin Atticus Goldberg, of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Susan L. Martenson-Farese of Florence, Italy; a brother, Bruce Gregory Martenson of Tualatin, Ore.; and her beloved nieces and nephew: Camden Victoria Farese of Milan, Italy, Lara Alexis Farese and Caroline Astrid Farese of Florence, Italy, Bruce Michael Martenson of Tualatin, Ore., Amanda Nicole Miller of Bend, Ore., and Ashley Rae Miller of Roseville, Minn.

Karin left an imprint on everyone’s lives she touched, fulfilling one of her dreams: to make an impact on the world. Her love and her zest for life will be a part of us all forever.

A private service was held with the immediate family.
