David M. Baker

Born June 16, 1968 in Jamestown, he was the son of Patricia A. VanDeWalker Baker and Halsey Willover. He was lovingly adopted at the age of 8 by his mother’s husband Leland Baker. Leland predeceased him in 1992.

David was raised in Olean, and later Jamestown. As an adult he lived in Friendship and most recently in Scio. He loved the outdoors and was most content working on local farms and doing sawmill work. He especially enjoyed salvaging and made that his principal occupation.

He grew up loving to hunt and fish, and he regularly attended demolition derbies, stock car races, and just being outdoors. His sister Barb is a stock car driver at local speedways, and he was thrilled to cheer her on as she competed, and won against, the male racers.

Surviving are his beloved mother, Patricia Baker of Jamestown; four siblings Alvie Baker of Ischua, Kammy Searfoss of Ischua, Barb Tidd of Jamestown, and Robert Baker of Niagara Falls, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his adoptive father Leland B. Baker in 1992.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday (April 19, 2022 from 10-11am. A funeral service will begin at 11am in the funeral home. Rev. Doug Travis will officiate. Cremation will follow, with burial in Mt. View Cemetery.
