George D. Pitchford Sr.

RANDOLPH — George D. Pitchford Sr., 60, of Allegany Road, Randolph, town of Napoli, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, after a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 9, 1961 in Bloomsburg, Pa., the son of late Donald and Jean (Konieczny) Pitchford Sr. He was a 1979 graduate of Randolph Central School.

George worked for Titan-X in Jamestown for the past 23 plus years. In years prior, he had worked as a derek hand in the oil and gas industry. He was a member of the Randolph American Legion Post 181 (Sons).

An avid fisherman, George often was found to be at the river fishing with his son, George Jr. or hunting with his sons or buddies. A lifelong dear friend and co-worker too many, he was a social butterfly and he loved life and relation-ships. His greatest joy was his children, and he sup-ported them throughout their lives and into adulthood.

George was a talented cook and enjoyed feeding others his latest walleye or one of his fabulous meals. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining. He was always there for others and will be remembered as being kind hearted.

He is survived by a daughter,, Ashley (David) Pitchford of Cassadaga: three sons: George Pitchford Jr. of Randolph, Jared (Melissa) Pitchford of Denver, Colo., and Jake (Hanna) Bush of New Lexington, Ohio; three grandchildren: Charlie, April and DeAngelo; two brothers: Dr. Daniel (Kristy) Pitchford of Exton, Pa., and Dr. Donald (Melanie) “Donnie” Pitchford of Liberty Hill, Texas.

As per George’s wishes, visitation will not be observed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.
