Donald Lee Rexroad

Donald L. Rexroad, 90, of Buffalo Street Extension, passed away Monday (Sept. 6, 2021) in Absolut of Westfield.

He was born Oc. 11, 1930, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of the late Roscoe H. Rexroad and Rose Pearl Sayre Ludwig.

Don was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School, and attended Jamestown Community College. Post high school, Don owned and operated Rex the Florist and State Theater in Falconer. In 1959, he opened State Lanes Inc. in Falconer and a few years later, Leisure Lanes Inc. in Lakewood. State Lanes kicks off its 62nd season with one of the oldest leagues in the country.

Don was a very longtime member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge 145 F & A M, Jamestown Shriners, Professional Photographers of America, and Wally Byam Caravan Club having served as NY State president. He was the official photographer for urban renewal for Jamestown documenting the Brooklyn Square changes. He was a proud member of Civil Air Patrol at Chautauqua Air-port. He was the official photographer for the Bemus Point Bridge. He was an executive officer of the National Guard.

His photography earned him recognition and awards from New York State and from the Tampa Bay Area. He was a voracious reader, a lover of football, and was known to enjoy his pipe or a good cigar.

Surviving is his wife, Barbara J. Cornwell Rexroad, whom he married March 12, 1955 in the Falconer United Methodist Church; three children: Kelley Rexroad (Brian Walsh) of Odessa, Fla., Marylyn Brittigan of Lexington, Va., and David Rexroad of Falconer; and a granddaughter, Abigail Rexroad.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Donald Edison Rexroad on Feb. 9, 2006; several relatives, including two favorite aunts: Mary Sheffer and Viola Sheffer.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, as re-quested by Don. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m on Wednesday, Sept 15, in the Falconer United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 201 N. Work St., Falconer, NY 14733.
