Marilyn T. Depew

Marilyn T. Depew, 76, of Stow, N.Y., a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, while at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

She was born on Dec. 9, 1944, in Wellsville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ralph and Mona Cochran Tompkins.

Marilyn was a 1962 graduate of Wellsville High School and attended Bowl-ing Green University. She married her high school sweetheart, John Depew, on Sept. 21, 1963, in Wellsville, N.Y. She adored the job of being a homemaker to their family in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Pasadena, California, and then finally in Allegany, N.Y. Marilyn and John retired to their dream home on Chautauqua Lake in Stow.

Marilyn was a former member and active volunteer of the First Presbyterian Church, Olean where she sang in the choir, was on the Christian Education Committee and taught VBS and Sunday school. In addition, she held numerous volunteer positions in the local community serving on the school board, sports booster club and working later on with the Allegany Central School district as an aide.

Marilyn was an avid bowler, played tennis and bridge club with her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family on the lake boating or shop-ping. Since retirement, she mostly loved spending the winter months with her husband, children, and grandson in Phoenix, Ariz.

Surviving besides her husband, John Depew of Stow are two children: Nicole (Derek) Stokes and Jeff Depew, both of Avon-dale, Ariz.; her beloved grandson, Bryant Gayton of Avondale, Ariz; and a brother , James Tompkins of Addison, Ill.

A celebration of life service will be announced by the family at a later date.
