Jane L. Green

Jane L. Green, 90, of Conroe, TX, formerly of Sinclairville, went to her eternal reward, Sunday, May 30, 2021.

Born September 16, 1930 in Bradford, PA a daughter of the late Dr. E. G. and Mary V. Ankeney Fleming. She graduated from Bradford High School in 1948, attended Grove City College and graduated from Pittsburgh School of Nursing in 1953.

In the early years of her career Jane was employed by Visiting Nurse Assn. of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA and then W.C.A. Hospital, Jamestown. For 24 years she was a Public Health Nurse with Chautauqua County Department of Health, working through the Dunkirk Branch Office retiring in 1987.

Jane was a member of the Park United Methodist Church since 1955 and had served in various ministries including; Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Visitation Committee, Official Board (Secretary) and Chairman of the Funeral Meal Committee, former member and Past-President of David Vern Luce American Legion Auxiliary No. 778, Cassadaga Valley Volunteers-Cassadaga Valley Schools and enjoyed volunteer work with young children in reading and was a former volunteer in the adult reading program at Pendergast Library, Jamestown. Jane also participated in the “Living Christmas Tree” program at First Covenant Church, Jamestown and also enjoyed cooking, baking, music activities and helping others. Before moving to Texas, even though her sight was failing, she would walk daily for exercise.

Wife of the late Howard C. Green, who she married Jan. 22, 1955 in Bradford, PA and who died Jan. 21, 2010; mother of Ann (Kevin) Schmalz of Vestal and Elaine (Late James) Shoemaker of Conroe, TX, with who she made her home; grandmother of, Patrick Shoemaker of Spring, TX and Derek Schmalz of Buffalo; great-grandmother of Aiden and Benjamin Shoemaker; step-sister of the late Suzanne Kaffai. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 1 p.m. Thursday in Park United Methodist Church, 49 Sinclair Dr., Sinclairville, with 2 hours of visitation prior to the service beginning at noon.
