Dorothy (Jeanne) Wilder

Dorothy (Jeanne) Wilder, 85, formerly of Jamestown, passed away March 1, 2021, peacefully at Garden Gate Healthcare Facility, Cheektowaga.

She was born on May 27, 1935, in Savannah, Ga., the daughter of the late Harold L. Nichols and Dorothy Waller-Nichols-Austin.

Dorothy was a graduate of Savannah High School. She was employed by Bigelow’s Department Store in Jamestown. She was a parishioner of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church/Holy Apostles Parish, as well as a Mothers’ Club member of the former SS Peter and Paul Catholic School.

Surviving is a daughter; Joanne (Al) Schmidt of Dallas, Texas and three sons; William (Patricia) Wilder of Houston, Texas, Patrick (Mary) Wilder of Danville, Va., Joseph (Eva) Wilder of Houston, Texas; former daughter-in-law Linda Sampson of Jamestown; eight grandchildren; Ryane (Wilder) Parsons, Morgan Wilder, Tiffany Wilder, Sydney Giesey (Schmidt), Jacob Schmidt, Kurt Salupo, Adam Sundholm, and Jordyn Sampson; seven great grandchildren; and a brother; James Dennis Austin of Galves-ton, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Wilder, whom she wed on May 20, 1953, in Savannah, Ga. and who died on Feb. 1, 2007; a son, Michael S. Wilder, brothers; Jack Nichols and John Austin, and her stepfather Arthur Austin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021, in SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church/ Holy Apostles Parish in Jamestown, with a later burial at Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, Ga. The Rev. Dennis Mende pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will be celebrant.

Friends and family will be received on March 5, 2021, at Falconer Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Due to CDC and NYS COVID-19 regulations face masks will be required and social distancing observed for the funeral mass and visitation.
