David Keefe
David Wayne Keefe, of Smithfield, NC, formerly of Lakewood, NY passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 27, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He drew his strength from the Lord and his family.
David was born in Jamestown, NY on Nov. 23, 1954 to James “Jim” and Dawn (Eggleston) Keefe. He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1973 where he was an All-Conference football player. David was married to Robin (Warn) Keefe on July 12, 1975.
David was a volunteer EMT with the Lakewood Fire Department in his early twenties. He enjoyed hunting with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed performing gospel concerts in many local churches and later formed the gospel group 4 His Glory with his brother and friends from Busti Church of God.
David and his wife moved to North Carolina in 2010 for the warmer weather and to help take care of their grandchildren.
David is survived by his loving wife, Robin; his three children: Lori (Dario) Mistretta of Jamestown, NY; Jeremy (Jen) Keefe of Mebane, NC; and Amber (Steve) Duncan of Clayton, NC; his siblings Dan (Rosemarie) Keefe, Tom (Nancy) Keefe, Jamie (Cynthia) Keefe, and Karen (Todd) Beals; his mother Dawn (Eggleston) Keefe; his grandchildren: Joshua, Corbin, Noah, Evan, Sophia, Kylie, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Madelyn, and Cayden; and several nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his father James “Jim” Keefe and his nephew Adam Keefe.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lakewood Baptist Church in July, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local church in David’s name.
