Ronald James “RJ” Hooker

Ronald James “RJ” Hooker passed away at UPMC Chautauqua, Jamestown, N.Y., on Feb. 22, 2021. RJ, as he was known by family and friends, was born in WCA Hospital, Jamestown, N.Y., on June 11, 1965, to the late Gordon K. and Jean M. Burch Hooker.

RJ grew up in Sherman, N.Y., and then lived various residences in the Jamestown, N.Y., area as a client of The Resource Center. He participated in local and state Special Olympics and was proud of the medals he received. He enjoyed working on a friend’s farm when he was home for weekend visits. He enjoyed socializing with friends and family and like going to Day Care at the Center where they called him the Mayor.

In addition to his parents, RJ was preceded in death, grandparents, brothers Gordon K Hooker, II and Kenneth D. (Skip) Hooker and nephew Kelly D. Hooker.

RJ is survived by his sister and brother-in-law David and Patricia Nothum, Union City, Pa., sister-in-law Catherine Hooker, Middleport, N.Y., two nieces and their children, Aldi Hinkson and children, Cody and Erika and Abbe Biebel, husband Mark and son Chris of Union City, Pa., Greg Nothum, Erie, Pa., and Joe Biebel of Hartford, CT. He is further survived by two nephews and their children, Joe Hooker, wife Kim and son Michael, Akron, N.Y., Gregory Hooker, wife Renee and sons Nathan and Joshua, South Lyon, MI and several cousins.

The family would like to thank the love and care given to RJ during his time at the Resource Center and particularly the staff of Pardee House where he spent the last number of years. We would also like to thank the staff on 4D at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital for the care they gave to RJ during his last days.
