Russell G. “Roddy” Leone of Fredonia, N.Y., died on Jan. 6, 2021, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y. Russell was born on Aug. 18, 1938, in North Collins, N.Y., to the late George and Jennie (DeCarlo) Leone.

For 42 years, he was the proprietor of the Liberty Cafe on Prospect Street for 42 years, and owned several apartment houses in Fredonia, N,Y.

Russell was additionally a member of the Chautauqua Pistol Club, the South Shore Gun Club and Elks Club in Dunkirk, N.Y. He also trained and achieved his pilot license.

But most of all, Roddy loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his children: Thomas (Laura) Leone of Jamestown, N.Y., Lisa Leone of Spring Hill Fla., Russell L. (Kristi) Leone of Fredonia, N.Y., Melissa (Kelly) Leone-Penley of Hamlin, N.Y., and Michelle Tota of Jamestown, N.Y. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his sisters: Josephine Leone and Geraldine Pomeroy; and his long time, companion, Carol Genovese.

Besides his parents, Russell G. “Roddy” was preceded in death by his siblings: Anthony Leone, Marie Shaw, Louis Leone; and grandson, Thomas Lone.

Relatives and friends may call at the FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 E. Main Street, Fredonia, N.Y., on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, from 4-7 p.m.

Interment, at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Fredonia, N.Y., will be held privately by the family.
