Pat Deppas

Pat Deppas, 98, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at the home of her daughter, Kathy.

A lifelong area resident, she was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late John and Teresa Marucci Luciano.

She was a 1941 graduate of the former Bemus Point High School and had also attended Jamestown Business College.

Before her retirement in 1986, she was employed as a teller for the Marine Midland Bank for 14 years. In earlier years, she and her late husband, Andy owned and operated several neighborhood grocery stores including, K&G Grocery on North Main St., the Falconer Street Superette and the Fairmount Food Store. She also worked for the former Jamestown Stamp Company and Jacobson Wholesale Food, where she worked in the payroll department and where she met her husband, Andy.

She was a longtime communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

She will be remembered as an avid sports fan who loved watching the New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills and Notre Dame Football games. She also loved bowling in the Crawford Furniture women’s bowling league and getting together with her card club friends. She enjoyed nature, growing flowers and watching the wildlife, especially deer. She was an avid reader of many novels and was interested in keeping up with political news.

Surviving are a daughter; Kathleen “Kathy” Hall, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren: Alanna (Eric) Landin of Batavia, Ill., and Christopher (Rachael) Hall of Knightdale, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren: Aimee and Jeremiah Landin and Hannah and Jordan Hall. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew G. Deppas, whom she married Jan. 19, 1942, in the St. John Catholic Church Rectory, and who died Jan. 23, 2008; her son, Greg J. Deppas, who died June 28, 2017; her son-in-law, James D. Hall, who died May 2, 2013] and eight brothers and sisters.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
