Kathleen A. ”Kathy” Messina

A lifelong area resident, she was born June 1, 1950, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Carl J. and Mary Ann Lovecchio Raineir.

Kathy was a 1968 graduate of Jamestown High School.

Before her retirement in 2015, she was employed as a secretary for the YWCA in Jamestown for several years. In earlier years, she had worked for Allied Fire Protection, Ed Shults Chevrolet and for Brown Engineering.

She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church and was active in Ring School PTA while her children were in school. She loved spending time with her family especially, her grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons; Andrew C. (Michelle) Messina of Concord, Ohio, and Martin V. (Lori) Messina of Lakewood, N.Y.; four grandchildren; Anthony Martin Messina and Sophia Marie Messina. both of Concord, Lucy Kathleen Messina and Joy Elizabeth Messina. both of Lakewood; three sisters: Diane (Cass) Culotta of Angola, N.Y., Mary Francis (Larry) Maisto of Jamestown and Lori (Mike) Ianniello of Penfield, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent A. Messina, whom she married March 20, 1971, and who died July 18, 2013.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant.

There will be an open public visitation for Kathy from 2-4 pm Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2020, in the Lind Funeral Home. Her immediate family will not be present at this time but would welcome your presence to pay your respects if you desire.
