Shirley I. (Fellows) Nagle

EAST RANDOPLH, N.Y. — Shirley I. (Fellows) Nagle, 85, of Main Street, East Randolph, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at home after an extended Illness.

She was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Napoli, the daughter of the late Harold J. and Josephine M. (Campbell) Fellows Sr.

Shirley attended a one room school house in Napoli until the fourth grade when she then went on to Randolph Central School graduating in 1952. Shirley received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Buffalo in 1956 (Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority), and received her Masters in Arts from Columbia Teachers College in New York City, graduating in 1959.

She retired in 1991 from Randolph Central School, after 31 years of service, where she was the school nurse teacher. She had also co-owned and operated Nagles Cider Mill in East Randolph, worked for the former Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda as a nurse, and had worked alongside her family at the former Fellows General Store in Napoli.

She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph, where she was the longtime organist and choir director, served on the Vestry and taught Sunday school. She was a former member of the New York State Teachers Association, Chautauqua-Cattaraugus School Nurses Association (past president-secretary), Salvation Army (past chairman) Randolph Teachers Association (past secretary), charter member of the Randolph Historical Society. She was also the former organist at the Napoli and Little Valley United Methodists Churches.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, reading, playing the piano and she was also proud to be the caregiver for over 50 years to her parents, Harold and Josephine, as well her brother, Doug.

She is survived by, her husband of 61 years, Frederic R. Nagle, whom she married on Nov. 27, 1958, in the Little Valley United Methodist Church; three sons: Jeffrey (Susan) Nagle of Orchard Park, N.Y., Timothy (Loni) Nagle of Randolph and Robert (Mary Beth) Nagle of Bloomington; 11 grand- children: Christopher (Maria) Nagle, Mary Nagle, Jeffrey Nagle, Travis (Kim) Nagle, Michelle (fiance Jacob Skudlarek) Nagle, Jessica Nagle, Sarah (Austin) Suddarth, Matthew Nagle, Rebekah Nagle, Jonathan Nagle and Hannah Nagle; and two great- grandchildren: Frederic John Nagle and Elizabeth Ann Nagle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Harold J. Fellows Jr. and Douglas J. Fellows. Funeral services will be held privately, Monday in the Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph. Rector Luke Fodor and former Rector Thomas Broad will officiate. Burial will be in the East Randolph Cemetery.
