Marilyn J. Lindahl Johnson

Marilyn J. Lindahl Johnson, 93, formerly of Brookside Estates, Tanglewood Manor, and Falconer, N.Y. passed away Thursday (Oct. 8, 2020) in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

A lifelong area resident she was born July 24, 1927, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Carl and Gertrude VanValkenburg Johnson.

Marilyn was a 1944 graduate of Mayville High School and attended Jamestown Community College. In earlier years Marilyn was employed by Monofrax Carborundum, Yorktown Industries, and Chautauqua County ASCS.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church Jamestown, Chautauqua Art Association, Jamestown Business and Professional Women, Viking Lodge and Thule Lodge.

Marilyn was a loving and devoted Mom, daughter, Grandmother (“Nana”) and sister. She was a talented and accomplished artist and painter.

Surviving are five children: Cynthia (Culver) Gleason of Jamestown, Peggy (Thomas) Larson of McCleansville NC, Kathleen McCarty of Falconer, Gilbert Lindahl (Martha Zenns) of Jamestown, and Gary (Judy) Lindahl of Ashville; a sister Dorothy (Charles) Krause of Mayville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two stepsons Martin Johnson of Jamestown and Douglas Johnson of Kennedy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Richard H. Lindahl Sr.; her second husband, Thurston E. John-son whom she married July 26, 1980, who died July 27, 1999; a son Richard Lindahl Jr. who died Nov. 19, 2004; a brother Robert C. Johnson of Frewsburg, her sister JoAnn (Dale) Huffman of Birmingham, Alabama, a son-in-law Culver Gleason, and a stepdaughter Cheryl Norris of Jamestown.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Falconer Funeral Home.

Pastor Jeffrey Mitchener of Family Church Mayville, will officiate. Internment will be in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown.

Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the memorial service.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be donated to Chautauqua Blind Association.
