Germina Castiglione

Germina Castiglione, 97, formerly of 55 Roland Road, Jamestown, N.Y., died Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, in Trinity Village Nursing Home, Hickory, N.C.

A native of Venaus, Ita-ly, she was born Nov. 10, 1922, the fifth child of the late Ceasare and Mary Chi-abaudo Rossetti.

Germina graduated from Falconer High School in 1940 and lived most of her adult life in Jamestown. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

In 2013, she was preced-ed in death by her husband, Samuel Castiglione, whom she married April 22, 1946. Together they owned and operated Casty’s Gro-cery store for 42 years. Germina also followed the death of her son, Samuel Castiglione Jr.; a grand-daughter, Lisa Castiglione; and her six Rossetti si-blings: Blaise, Nilda Wil-lett, Emma Mazzone, Louis, Alfred and Irene Rizzo.

Germina loved to cook, swim, sew, knit and take care of her family and ex-tended families. She is sur-vived by her children: Joann (William) Ryan of Elon, N.C., Michael (Cyn-thia) Castiglione of Hicko-ry, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Deborah Castiglione of Jamestown N.Y.; six grand- children: Richard (Amber) Walton, Julia (Mara) San-chez, Michael (Laura) Cas-tiglione, Gina (Lee) Whisnant, Joseph Casti-glione and Andrea (An-tonio) Benitez; and seven great-grandchildren: Keir-ick, Allison, Catherine, Jonathan, Logan, Samuel, and Luciana.

In addition she is sur-vived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Castiglione; many nieces, nephews; as well as great nieces and great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Falconer, N.Y.
