Stanley H. Walters

Stanley H. Walters, 84, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed from this world and into the arms of Jesus on Sept. 7, 2020. He died peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones. Stanley was born at home, Dec. 25, 1935 in Randolph, N.Y. The third of seven children born to Harold and Emma (Meacham) Walters.

He was proceeded in death by his parents’ a son, Michael R. Walters; and a sister, Aletha (Bill)Visker.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue Walters; five siblings: Harry (Ruth) Walters, Loretta (Larry) Overturf, Barbara (Tim) Parker, Marian (Kip) Kovel and Howard (Veronica) Walters; and many nieces and nephews; two daughters: Nancy Root and Mary Ann (Rodney) Storer, both of Gerry, N.Y.; two sons: David (Cindy)Walters of Stockton, N.Y., and Frank Coleman of Buffalo N.Y. Stanley also leaves behind nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as “Pa.” His grandchildren are: Tim Lerow of Sinclairville, N.Y., Tyler (Jackie) Lerow of Cassadaga, N.Y., Brandi (Mike) Moziak of Asheville N.C., Matthew Lerow of Columbia. S.C., Desiree Walters of Clemson, S.C., Garrett Storer of Gerry, N.Y., Taylor Storer of Lakewood, N.Y., and Kayla Walters of Jamestown, N.Y.; great-grandchildren: Jack and John Lerow of Cassadaga, N.Y., and Acadia Moziak of Asheville, N.C.

As a young man, Stanley loved to fly airplanes and race cars. He received his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. He began racing cars at age 16 and was a part of the Rollo Bowl dirt track racing organization.

Stanley attended Randolph Central School. He ran the Quaker State Gas Station in Randolph N.Y., for many years with his wife and best friend, Sue. They also owned and operated a small dairy farm and Stan’s Garage on Larkin Street Extension in Randolph. He was also involved and opened his home to children from the Randolph Children’s Home.

Stanley was a talented and honest mechanic. He was known for his kindness and generosity and made friend everywhere he went. He was also well know in the Amish community.

He and his wife, Sue were inseparable and lived a full, happy and adventurous life together.

As per Stanley’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Chautauqua County Humane Society.
