It is with a sad but joyful heart that we announce that Joyce has been made whole again and is rejoicing in heaven with her loved one’s that have gone on before her.

Joyce E. Bergman, 86, formerly of Panama, N.Y., passed away at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.

A lifelong area resident, she was born March 11, 1934, in Mayville, N.Y., a daughter of the late Michael and Doris Slayton Terry.

She was a graduate of the former Chautauqua High School and was a former member of the Panama Fire Department Auxiliary.She also enjoyed painting, crafting and watching the hummingbirds around her home. She will be remembered as a loving and caring housewife and homemaker who took great care of her husband, children and large extended family.

Surviving are four children: Kathleen (Earl) Foulk, Judy (Jim) Burdic, Karen (Jeff) Lewis, all of Ashville, N.Y., and John (Tina) Bergman of Panama, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; Amy Bergman, Michael Bergman, Rob Brown, Shannon Stevens, Christy Johnson, John Bergman, Amanda Bergman, Jennifer Short, Dale Tremblay, Sara Shirley, Josh Putnam, Walter Kinne and Andrew Foulk; 17 great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Joe Dorman.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Bergman, Sr. whom she married Oct. 16, 1952, and who died March 10, 2006; a son, Kenneth E. Bergman, Jr., who died on October 7, 2010; a daughter, Brenda L. Maloy, who died Aug. 3, 2019; three brothers: Paul, Charles and Maurice Terry; and two sisters: Norma Bruto and Marie Seekings-Kelly.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept/ 5, 2020, in the Panama Baptist Church. The Rev. Andrew Cook, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Panama Greenwood Cemetery. Following the service there will be a luncheon for family and friends at the home of Kathy and Earl Foulk, 2673 Panama-Stedman Road, Ashville, NY.

Friends will be received on a walk through basis from 4-7 pm Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, in the Lind Funeral Home, where social distancing will be observed and masks are required while inside the funeral home. Friends will also be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the church.
