Wessley H. Abbey

Wessley H. Abbey, 77, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly Monday (Aug. 10, 2020) in his home.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Jan, 1, 1943, in Jamestown, the son of the late Stanley A. and Manetha A. Rhinehart Ab-bey.

Wessley attended Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1964-68 in Vietnam. He was employed by Blackstone Corporation – Valeo from 1968 to 2007.

Wes was an avid out-doorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling to Croatia to visit his wife’s family and watching his grandsons play baseball. He also loved NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan.

Surviving are his wife, Georgia Bozlc Abbey whom he married in 1967 in Germany; two children: Dean (Debra) Abbey of Kennedy and Manetha M. “Mimi” of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Michael B. Rogers (Breeanna Jolly) of Jamestown, Andrew S. Rogers (Lia Pearson) of Corry, Pa., Jessica L. Rogers of Frewsburg, Heather Zock, Ashley Goodwin and Robert (Heidi) Goodwin of James-town; great-grandchildren: Wesley, Madison, Justine, Kyla, Clifford, Alexis, Brayden, Robert IV, Kylee and Olver; a brother, Del-vin S. (Suzy) Abbey of Jamestown; two nephews: Charles (Jennifer) Abbey of Georgia, and Daniel (Ley-na) Abbey of Jamestown; and several great-nephews, nieces and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Abbey; and two nephews: Michael and Bradley Abbey.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday (Aug. 14, 2020) in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer, pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

In accordance with New York State guidelines, masks are required in the funeral home.
