Katherine M. Sample

She was born Nov. 7, 1957, in Meadville, Pa., the daughter of George and Freida Rath Dewey.

Katherine was employed by WCA Hospital for over 30 years and was most re-cently employed by Cassa-daga Valley Central School.

Katherine enjoyed at-tending her son Rayven’s Falconer-Cassadaga Valley high school track meets and raising awareness for Arthrogryposis. She took great pride in loving and caring for her family. Fam-ily extended beyond blood. She shared the same posi-tivity with countless friends whom she considered fami-ly.

Surviving are her hus-band, Thomas E. Sample, whom she married Oct. 21, 1977, in Falconer; her daughter, Gwen Sample (Ashley Syper) of West-field; her son, Rayven Sam-ple of Gerry; two grandchildren: Jonathan Syper and Amanda Syper (Matt Barton) all of West-field; her parents, George and Freida Dewey of Jamestown; two brothers: George (Carla) Dewey of Charlotte, N.C., and Ronald (Becky) Dewey of Falcon-er; a sister, Lori Newberry (Bill Alexander) of James-town; and several nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her long-time friend, Linda Minnich of Dewittville; her sister- in-law, Donna Sample of Bemus Point and family; and her nephew, Barry and wife, Amber Lindquist of Cherry Creek and family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas D. “Tommy” Sample in 2011; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Newberry in 2008.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Red Bird Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
