Barbara J. (Phillips) Butcher

Barbara J. (Phillips) Butcher, 79, longtime resident, retired village clerk and trustee for the Village of South Dayton, N.Y., died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020 at Charis Senior Home in Walton Hills, Ohio. She was born Nov. 29, 1940 in Silver Creek, N.Y., the daughter of the late Glenn R. Phillips and the late Ila G. (Luce) Phil-lips.

Barb was a bookkeeper for local townships and also worked at local banks and credit unions. She was a member of the US Trotting Association, where she owned and raced horses with her late husband, Denzil I. Butcher for many years. She also owned many dogs during her life. Barb had many friends and loved the village and people of South Dayton with fond memories of the gala days and the motion pictures which were filmed in her home town. She had a keen and sharp sense of humor.

She is survived by her beloved son, Dennis P. (Martha) Butcher of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; her grandchildren: Dennis P. Butcher Jr. (Kendra) of Dayton, Ohio, Erin E. Butcher (Jeffrey) of Day-ton, Ohio and Kelsie N. (Butcher) Ryon (Trevor) of Columbus, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren: Allison, Kennedy, Charlotte and Adelaide Butcher of Day-ton, Ohio and Oliver Ryon of Columbus, Ohio. Also survived by her sister, Dolly Chase of South Day-ton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Phillips.

At this time there is no visitation planned. The family hopes to have a celebration remembrance at an appropriate time in the future.
