Eleanore R. Stankey

ELLINGTON — Eleanore R. Stankey, 94, of South Hill Road, Ellington, formerly of Williams Street, East Randolph, passed away Tuesday (June 30, 2020) at her daughter Betsy’s home while under the care of Hospice.

She was born March 24, 1926, in Wesleyville, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Amos Thalheimer

Eleanore was a 1944 graduate of Cattaraugus High School and retired in 1990 from Union National Furniture in Jamestown. In earlier years, she had also worked at Borden Milk Plant, Graemco Feed in Little Valley and Gowanda Electronics.

She was a life-long member of the New Apostolic Church in Cattaraugus, where she was the organist and sang in the choir. Eleanore enjoyed her family most, and also gardening, gathering with friends and family to play cards and watching baseball games on T.V.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Rhinehart and husband, Casey of Ellington; two grandchildren; Wesley William Rhinehart- USMC of Maryland and Elise Annette Rhinehart of Richmond, Va.; a great-grand- daughter, Eleanore Rhinehart; a sister, Elaine Thomspon of Allegany, N.Y.; as well as many nieces, nephews and special family friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William L. “Grandpa Bill” Stankey, who passed away June 28, 2013; three sisters: Elsie Miller, Elizabeth Conklin and Alfreda Manning; and three brothers: Herbert, Harold and Edwin Thalheimer.

A private celebration of life service will be held Friday, July 3, 2020, in the Kennedy United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jennifer Delahoy, pastor of the church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the East Randolph Cemetery. At Eleanore’s request, visitation will not be observed.
