Carol A. Ecklund

Carol A. Ecklund, 86, of Cortland, Ohio, formerly of Hermitage, Pa., died Feb. 15, 2020 at 4 a.m., in the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio, following an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Kennedy, N.Y., the daughter of the late Beatrice (Ralph) Cobb and the late Richmond Cobb.

She graduated from Falconer High School in 1951 and attended a local business college. She was a homemaker.

Carol was a member of I.H.S. Gospel Ministries in Hermitage, Pa., and the West Mecca Bible Methodist Church in Mecca, Ohio. Carol enjoyed doing seamstress work and quilting.

She is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Strong and her husband, Dennis of Cortland, Ohio, Beth Eckland and her fiance, Alan Cress of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Amy Ecklund and her wife, Heather Harman of Seattle, Wash.; a son, James Ecklund and his wife, Rochelle Glidden of Hope, Maine; two sisters: Joyce Amick and her husband, W.D. of Runa, W. Va., and Cindy Parsons of Kennedy, N.Y.; a brother, Roger Cobb and his wife. Marjorie of Gerry, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parent; her husband, Roger Ecklund, whom she married Sept.21, 1951, and who passed away May 12, 2012; and a brother, Bill Cobb.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb.19, 2020, at 1 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. C. Charles Eckles and Pastor Mike Shiery officiating. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 from 11 a.m. to the time of the service. Burial will be in America’s Cemetery.
