Beverly E. Cheney

She was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Karl Albert and Ruth Victoria Hammarstedt Roos.

In earlier years, Beverly was employed by the Post Journal, Hopes Windows and the Resource Center teaching children. She then worked in the Jamestown City Court as court clerk for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.

Following retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family, collecting antiques and shopping.

Beverly is survived by a daughter, Susan K. (Thomas) Brown, with whom she made her home; two sons: Ricky (Rod Swackhammer) Cheney of Jamestown and Steven (Lori) Cheney of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two grandchildren: Amanda (Wayne) Brown and Casey (Cassie) Brown, both of Jamestown; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Carolyn Grunder of Binghamton, N.Y., and Elaine Gordon of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1965; her mother in 1985; and by her former husband, Derold Cheney in 2004.

A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
