Robert J. Cole

Robert J. Cole, 80, of Stockton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing.

He was born Jan. 13, 1939, in Jamestown, a son of the late Jack and Eunice M. Nelson Cole. A Chautauqua County resident most of his life, he was a 1957 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

Robert served in the U.S Army from 1961-63 and the Army Reserves until 1967.

He was employed at Dahlstrom’s as receiving clerk for 34 years until their closing in 1994 and then at Larson Metal Manufacturing until his retirement.

Robert cared about children and several times, served as a foster parent.

He was an member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department (exempt), Stockton Community Church, serving in several ministries and life member of the Chautauqua County Firemen’s Fraternity.

Husband of Catherine “Katie” Walters Pierce Cole; brother of Frederick (Cheryl) Cole and Sandra (late Robert) Belovarac, both of Stockton, Shawnee (Bruce) Galbraith of Sinclairville and the late Jack H., Jr. (May 31, 2004) and an infant sister, Susan May Cole; stepfather of: Cindy and Gerry (Melody) Pierce, Sue (Dennis) Acosta, Addie Lexow and the late Cookie Miller; stepgrandfather of 19. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday in Stockton Community Church, 4554 W. Railroad Ave., Stockton. Military honors provided by Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post 1280. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton.
