Mary S. Robinson

Mary S. Robinson, 96, formerly of 65 W. Terrace Ave., Lakewood, died Wednesday Oct. 30, 2019, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was born Sept. 16, 1923, a daughter of the late Herbert and Vera Macdonald Stairs.

She earned a bachelor’s in Home Economics from Acadia University.

She had worked for Maple Grove and Falconer Central School Districts as a home economics substitute teacher.

She was a member of the former First Baptist Church.

Throughout her life she was an active member of various civic organizations including Creche and The Warner Home, serving as past president, volunteer at the WCA hospital Gift Shop, founding member of the Lakewood Memorial Library and The Cabin, Inc.

Surviving are four children Dr. Stephen (Dr. Linda) Robinson of Fayetteville, N.Y., Andrew (Kay) Robinson of Lakewood, Neil (Judie) Robinson of Jamestown and Meridith (Robert) Gerring of Bemus Point; 12 grandchildren Andrew Robinson, Jr., Amy Schumaker, Dr. Lauren Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Kristen Robinson, Scott Kelemen, Lindsay Hallisy, Matthew Robinson, Michele Gerring, Nicole Gerring, Dr. Robert Gerring and Stephen Gerring; 12 great-grandchildren and a sister Marjorie MacNeil of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth C. Robinson, whom she married Sept. 26, 1944 and who died Aug. 21, 2002 and an infant son Stewart Robinson.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
