Barbara Paine Zook

Barbara Paine Zook, 83, formerly of Bemus Point and Westfield, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born July 21, 1936, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of the late Eugene and Bertha Closser Duffee.

Prior to retirement, she was an activities aide and CNA at Absolut in Westfield. Barbara was a member of RSVP, program chair and past president of the Westfield Senior Citizens, and a past member of the Westfield Community Chorus. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, painting, bird watching, and word search puzzles.

Surviving are her husband, J. Marvin Zook of Frewsburg; two daughters: Judith Brentley of Jamestown and Donna (Robert) Reed of North Carolina; a son, Donald Paine of Jamestown; nine grandchildren: Barbara (Marcos) Velazquez of Jamestown, Neil (Michelle) Olson of North Carolina, Lori Paine Robbins of Arkansas, Roger (Sara) Paine Jr., Jennifer (Artie) Harrington, Angel (Tom) Ormbsy, Vanessa Koch and Maureen Brentley, all of Jamestown and Tina Gilbert of Cassadaga; several great- grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; four stepchildren: Gaylan Zook and Jeff Zook, both of Mayville, Rita (Fred) Himes of Florida, and Keith (Julie) Zook of Cherry Creek; several step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David Allen Paine; a son, Roger Paine Sr.; a daughter, Mary Krawczyk; a grandson, Michael Hawley; a sister, Shirley Carpenter; and a half-brother, The Rev. James Buchanaan.

Barbara’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Park, Heritage Village, and Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative care for their loving care given to Barbara.

The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends for two hours prior (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.) to the service Monday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
