Mary K. Corey, 72, of 116 High Acres, Bemus Point, N.Y., died in the home of her daughter in Lakewood, Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

She was a 1965 graduate of Bemus Point High School and later attended Jamestown Community College.

Prior to her retirement in 2018 due to ill health, she was employed at various local medical offices over a 30 year period in roles such as receptionist, surgery scheduler and office manager. Mary had a passion for helping patients and always managed to brighten their day. She was especially pleased when they would recognize her while out and about in the community years later, and she always enjoyed catching up with them. While undergoing her cancer treatment and related hospital stays over the past 15 months she always made it a point to personally thank everyone involved with her care regimen.

Mary was well known for her wonderfully positive disposition and outlook on life. She knew how to love her family and friends incredibly well. They are going to miss her kind heart, listening ear, her sense of fun and adventure, and all of her cooking and baking.

She loved her church and her church family at Busti Church of God, faithfully serving in children’s ministries, the food closet and the welcome desk. She also enjoyed being involved with the Fluvanna Sipping Seniors and the Fluvanna Historical Society.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth J. “Pat” Corey, whom she married July 15, 1967; three children: Jean (Tim) Brown of Lakewood, Eric (Sara) Corey of Greenhurst and Kenneth P.
