Janice M. Lauritson

FREWSBURG — Janice M. Lauritson, 72, of Rice Avenue, Frewsburg, formerly of Mace Road, Randolph, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday (Oct. 17, 2019) with her family by her side.

She was born April 5, 1947, in Yonkers, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Beatrice I. (Faint) Fitzpatrick.

Jan was a 1965 graduate of Gorton High School in Yonkers and retired in 1995 from NYNEX (Verizon) where she served as a field manager. While serving the company, Jan received the President’s Award for Excellence and was a Torch Bearer for the 1996 Olympics, running alongside Muhamad Ali in Indianapolis, Ind.

Prior to her retirement, she and her husband, Harvey had owned and operated Harvey’s Bar & Grill in Napoli and over the past four years, Jan had been the accountant for the Samuel L. Derby Post 556 American Legion in Frewsburg. She is survived by her husband, Harvey O. Lauritson, whom she married May 13, 1978 in White River Junction, Vt.; three sons: David Lauritson and wife, Judy of Cattaraugus, N.Y., Christopher Lauritson and wife, Nancy of Ashville, N.Y. and Ty Lauritson and wife, Angie of Hopkinsville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and two sisters: Margaret M. Fitzpatrick of Burdette, N.Y. and Patricia Passeretti of Harbor Creek, Pa.

The family will receive family and friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 20, 2019) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.

A celebration of life dinner will immediately follow at the Samuel L. Derby Post 556 American Legion in Frewsburg.
