Dorothy I. Pinkowski

Dorothy I. Pinkowski, 93, of Dunkirk, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

She was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Popielarz) Banach.

A graduate of St Hyacinth’s School, she also attended Dunkirk High School.

A past employee of the former Van Raalte Lingerie Company, Dunkirk Metal Products and in her younger days as a grape picker.

Her membership included St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are her sons: Robert Pinkowski and James (Katherine) Pinkowski, both of Dunkirk; a brother, John (Joanna) Banach; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew, David (Rosemary) Banach of Dunkirk; a niece Ellen (James) Murphy of East Greenbush, N,Y,; and cousins.

Preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Leonard F. Pinkowski, whom she married Feb. 15, 1947, and who died Aug. 28, 2007; a daughter, Carol A. Habich, who died Jan. 15, 2015; and infant brother, Henry Banach.

Relatives and friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m., at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 E Doughty St, Dunkirk. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., from St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
