Bruce J. Turner

Bruce J. Turner, 83, of One Packard Way, Lakewood, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Oct. 18, 2019, while in the loving arms of his oldest granddaughter, Lacie.

Bruce was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Jamestown, a son of the late Walter A. and Edna Sturdevant Turner. He served in the U.S. Army from March of 1955 until being honorably discharged in March of 1957.

A well-known area real estate agent and broker, Bruce had owned and operated Bruce J. Turner Realty. He later represented Winturn Realty and eventually retired from Century 21 Turner Brokers.

An avid golfer, he was a former member of Maplehurst and South Hills Golf Clubs. Bruce also loved Chautauqua Lake and preferred ‘staying home’ over vacations away.

He was a member of the Chautauqua County Board of Realtors and also belonged to the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.

Surviving is a son, Thomas A. Turner of Lakewood, N.Y.; two daughters: Tracy Abbey of Lakewood and Jodi (Johnmichael) Moran of Land O’ Lakes, Fla.; eight grandchildren: Katya Turner, Michael Turner, Lacie Abbey, Cody Abbey, Dylan Abbey, Danielle Abbey, Hannah Moran and Jacob Moran; as well as six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Szabrak; and a brother, F. Walter Tuner.

A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Lakewood Fire Department, 37 J.W. Packard Blvd., Lakewood, NY 14750.
