Bettie (Strickland) LaChiusa

Bettie was born April 11, 1928, in Gerry, N.Y., a daughter of the late Oliver K. and Frances (Kelly) Strickland. Bettie was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School and had been a Chautauqua County resident all her life.

She was a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church of Westfield. Bettie had been employed by the Copper Corner Boutique in the Chautauqua Institution and at the former Sincerely Yours Dress Shop and Fashion Boutique for many years. She was a member of the Westfield Garden Club, the Gourmet Club and the Lakeshore Center for the Performing Arts. She was known for her style and glamour and was well known to the Westfield community. Anyone who knew her loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Angelo R. LaChiusa, whom she married Sept. 27, 1952, in Westfield; as well as her daughter, Angela Kae LaChiusa-Kent and her husband, Todd of Jamestown; and her son, Dino LaChiusa and his wife, Fangjhi of Boston, Mass. Bettie was the proud grandmother of Christopher A. (Corrine) Case of Lakewood, N.Y., Michelle E. Case of Buffalo, N.Y., and Allison M. Newton of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and great-grandmother of Cameron and Caroline Case, Maria Bettina Cosarco and Dominic Case. She is further survived by her sister, Janet Balcomb; and her brother, George “Skip” Strickland.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bettina Marie (LaChiusa) Case; and by her siblings: Oliver Strickland and Barbara McCanna.

At Bettie’s request, all services will be private. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery
