Nicholas Wayne Shelley

Nicholas Wayne Shelley, 28 of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 14, 2019.

Nick was born July 24, 1991, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of Richard and Cathy Shelley, and the grandson of Wayne and Louise Shelley and the late Betty Cusimano Lindstrom.

Nick attended Holy Family Catholic School, Jefferson Middle School and was a 2009 graduate of Jamestown High School. He attended Jamestown Community College and played baseball for the Jayhawks.

Nick loved sports, his family and his friends. He played JAYS soccer, Little League baseball, Babe Ruth baseball and Jamestown High School baseball JV and varsity. Nick loved being a Southside Blue Devil football player and that is where his love of football began. He played Jefferson Middle School football and Jamestown High School football, both JV and varsity. He was the starting center for varsity for three years. Nick also played basketball at the YMCA Tom Buttafaro League and while in middle school at Jefferson.

Nick loved the New York Yankees and shared this love with his grandfather, Wayne and his mom and dad. It was a daily discussion with the family, “What’s happening today with the Yankees”.

Nick leaves behind a family that loved him for 28 plus years. The love and bond between him and his family is unbreakable. Nicholas left a kind smile with everyone he knew. He loved his friends 100% and they felt the same. Mike, Brian, and Chris were the boys he loved like brothers. Their bond is forever.

Nick is survived by his parents, Rich and Cathy Shelley; his grandparents, Wayne and Louise Shelley; his brother, Richard Shelley Jr.; his Uncle Chris Lindstrom, his Aunt Mary and Uncle Michael Shelley, Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Ed LeFort, Aunt Tammy and Uncle,Pat Russell and Uncle Joe and Aunt Teresa Kesslerl his loving and “best friends” cousins; Brooke and Eric Harvey, Michael Shelley, Holden and Ashley Russell and Mackenzie and Betty LeFort. Nick is also survived by his Aunt Toni and Uncle Tom Kessler, Aunt Marla and Uncle Ron Gottschalk, Aunt Marsha Olson, Aunt Donna and Uncle Sonny Shelley and Bryson Gottschalk.

Nick is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty C Lindstrom; great-grandparents, Ken and Phyllis Shelley, Willard and Isva Wilson; and his great-grandmothers: Catherine Cusimano and Evelyn Lindstrom.

In lieu of visitation Nicholas will have a Memorial Mass on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, 10 a.m., at Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis Mende will officiate. A luncheon and celebration of Nick’s life will follow Mass at the church hall.
