Jean S. Pearson

Jean S. Pearson, 85, of 4 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at UPMC Chautauqua.

She was the wife of Jon T. Pearson, whom she married Jan. 26, 1956.

Jean was born July 7, 1934, in Smithfield, Pa., a daughter of the late Hugh and Anne Miller Sackett.

Together with her husband, she owned and operated Pearson Stained Glass in Lakewood for many years.

In earlier years, she taught public school in Johnstown, Pa., and Chatham, N.J. While in New Jersey, she also helped develop the Infant Drown Proofing Program at the YMCA.

Jean enjoyed her years as a member of the Lakewood Women’s Club.

In addition to her husband Jon, surviving is a daughter, Kim (Mark Petillo) Pearson and son, Jon T. “JT” Pearson Jr., both of West Ellicott; a granddaughter, Nichole (Justin) Hetherington of Providence, R.I.; two sisters: Jane Sakett of Wheeling, W.Va., and Judy Eckert of Smithfield, Pa.; two brothers: Richard (Alberta) Sackett of Nashville, Tenn., and David Sackett of Texarkana, Ark.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Sackett Jr.

Following a private family service in Jamestown, a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Smithfield, Pa.

Memorials may be made to the Lakewood Memorial Library or the Lakewood Fire Department.
