Donald L. Bagley

MAYVILLE– Donald L. Bagley, 79, of Westfield, and formerly of Mayville, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, N.Y.

He was born March 16, 1940 in Jamestown, the son of the late Donald D. and. E. Gertrude Wright Bagley.

Don had been a self-employed custom kitchen installer and also worked in the security field as a police officer for Mayville and Jamestown. In addition, he worked security for WCA Hospital, Cummins Engine and a private individual. He also worked for Klings furniture factory.

He was an avid snowmobiler and active member of the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club having helped build the clubhouse and maintain the trail system. He also enjoyed hunting, walks in the woods, country rides, genealogy, history, biking, and traveling.

Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dawn Reibel Bagley, whom he married Sept. 3, 1960 in Dewittville, N.Y.; three children; Janet (Scott) Cookson of Mayville, Patricia Bagley of Jametown, and Timothy Bagley of Mayville; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Christian) Tiberio, Danielle (Shane) Nusom, Jeramya Scriven, Justin (Arielle) Scriven, Megan Bagley and Ellen Bagley; two great-grandchildren; Taylor and Preston Tiberio (with two more great-grandchildren on the way); two sister in laws, Kathy Frost and Julie Reibel, four nieces and nephews and one special friend, Robert Terry Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in law; John Reibel, and a sister in law; Barbara Warner.

The funeral will be held at noon on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, 139 S Erie St. Hospice Chaplain James Witherington will officiate. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service (10Am until noon), at the funeral home.
