Clayton David Anderson

Clayt was born July 6, 1926, in Jamestown, a son of Robert and Helga Klang Anderson.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific as a signalman and receiving an honorable discharge.

He was a well known contractor and mason in the Jamestown area and was a member of the International Brick Layers Union. He was founder, owner and president of Anderson Construction, Incorporated which he built from the ground up. In addition he was president of Westgate Office Complex on Third Street. He took pride and pleasure in every moment of his work life and as a result was a well known businessman in the Jamestown area.

Clayt’s work was clearly his passion with his strong work ethic and “knowing no limits” outlook on life.

He also served his community as a life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and former deacon of First Covenant Church.

Clayt had several interests throughout his life and will be remembered for so many unique characteristics. As an antique car enthusiast, he was a former member of the Antique Automobile Association of America Chautauqua Lake Region and took great pleasure in collecting, restoring and showing his cars. He also enjoyed foreign travel with his family.

Clayton was known for his positive attitude, engaging personality and eternally happy outlook on life. He lived a full life brimming with blessings and will be missed dearly by his family.

Above all else, Clayt cherished his family. He enjoyed spending afternoons on the porch of the home he built and in being able to watch his grandchildren grow up.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years Winifred Naughton Anderson; two daughters Eugenia Aubel of Canfield, Ohio, and Valerie (Brian) Dugan of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., and four grandchildren Owen and Liam Dugan and Dylan and Ashley Aubel.

He was preceded in death by a son Clayton David Anderson Jr.; a brother Carl Anderson; and a sister Joyce Anderson.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Covenant Church. The Rev. Adam Rohler will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
