Betty J. Benson

She was born July 27, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of the late Fred L. and Janet Tate Miller.

Betty was a dedicated homemaker and was a member of the Samuel Derby Post 556, American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and playing cards.

Surviving is a daughter, Jean Lewis of Falconer; three sons: James (Eileen) Lewis of Oakwood, Ga., George H. Benson of Falconer, and Robert (Nancy) Benson of Gerry; three grandchildren: Daniel (Patty) Lewis, John (Marsha) Lewis, all of Oakwood, Ga., and Matthew Benson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two great-grandsons: Matthew and Christopher Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband George H. Benson, whom she married June 12, 1959, in Sheridan, N.Y., and who died July 24, 2008; three brothers: Robert, William and Irvine Miller.

A private funeral service will be held in the Falconer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will not be observed.
