Carol A. Schutt

Carol was born Dec. 22, 1956, in Tripoli, Africa, to her late parents, Robert O’Bannon and Patricia (Macklin) O’Bannon.

After graduating from high school, Carol continued her education at Jamestown Community College earning her license practical nursing degree. She had a passion for helping others an had been employed for nearly 25 years at Westfield Memorial Hospital in Westfield, N.Y., primarily in the maternity department. Carol had been credited for saving many lives.

On April 6, 1985, Carol married the love of her life, Gordon P. Schutt. After retirement, she and Gordy relocated to Benson, Ariz., to be close to family.

She is survived in addition to her husband by her children: Heather Watson of Benson, Ariz., and Shawn Watson of Westfield, N.Y.; stepdaughters: Roxanne Buxton of Mayville, N.Y., Rochelle Gray of Westfield, N.Y., and Cathy Cettell of Portland, N.Y. Carol is further survived by her two sisters: Cathy Blake of Benson, Ariz., Cassandra Roy of Illinois; and her two brothers: Thomas O’Bannon of Tucson, Ariz., and Steven O’Bannon of San Diego, Calif.

Friends and family will be received for an informal memorial gathering from 6- 8 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Main Road, Westfield, N.Y. Private burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Carol’s family would like memorial contributions to be made on her behalf to the Westfield Memorial Hospital, c/o Special Projects Committee, 189 E. Main St., Westfield, NY 14787.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the MORSE Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave. Brocton, NY.
