Phyllis G. Skinner

Phyllis G. Skinner passed away in Buffalo on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the age of 96.

She was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Boston, Mass., to John and Katherine Kenny.

She was schooled in Boston, and was very proud of her Irish Catholic heritage. She married Norman E. Skinner on Nov. 17, 1943. He predeceased her on June 30, 1996.

Phyllis worked during World War II at the Watertown, Mass., arsenal helping to make U.S. Army field pieces and naval guns for battleships. After her marriage, she lived in Ashville, N.Y., as a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and sewing christening gowns for her church.

She is survived by her son, Jack (Marjorie) of Grand Island. In addition to her husband, Phyllis was predeceased by brothers: Cecil, Eugene, William, and John; and sisters: Katherine, Irene, Grace, Claire, Rita and Pauline.

The family wishes to thank the staffs at Sacred Heart/Brothers of Mercy and Niagara Lutheran/ Humboldt House for the care that they showed Phyllis.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated with many of her beloved nieces and nephews in Massachusetts. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, N.Y.
