Mary Jane Cole

Mary Jane Cole, of Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, formerly of Mayville, died June 13, 2019.

She was born Aug. 17, 1934 in Westfield, N.Y., the daughter of the late Elsie and Raymond Nelson.

She retired from Mayville Division of Ethan Allen where she was the Payroll Administrator. Prior to Ethan Allen, she was employed by Chautauqua Malted Milk Plant in Mayville.

She was an avid outdoors person who loved gardening and proudly produced “Jane’s Mums”. She found great joy on her riding lawn mower and behind her snow blower. Hunting and fishing were favorite past times with her husband, sons and grandsons. She was filled with happiness when she could share her knitting projects and woodworking designs with those she loved. She was a life-time member of the Mayville VFW Post 8647.

Jane is survived by sons Tom Cole of Hartfield, N.Y., Rick (Vicki) Cole of Ashville, N.Y.; daughter Debbie (Mark) Perry of Mayville, N.Y.; step-son Jeff Cole of Baytown, Texas; step-daughter Maryjo Galloway of Houston, Texas; brother Alvin (Marie) Nelson of Jamestown; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace E. Cole, son Randy Cole, sisters Beverly Nelson and Gloria Eggleston Semac, brother Chandler Nelson, step-sons David Cole and Melvin Cole.

The funeral will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 ,2019, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, 139 S. Erie St. Maureen Rovegno, M.Div., will officiate. Burial will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours 3-5 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.
