Joseph S. Ricotta

Joseph Samuel Ricotta, 87, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, Fla.

He was born in Falconer, N.Y., on Sept. 5, 1931, a son of Thomas and Rose (DeForte) Ricotta.

He attended Falconer High School and was active in team sports. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Joseph was employed for over 40 years and retired from Monofrax (formerly Carborundum).

He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Falconer, N.Y., and Our Lady of Grace in Beverly Hills, Fla. He was also a member of the Craftsmens’ Guild of Beverly Hills, Fla.

Surviving are five children: Diane L. Ricotta of Vero Beach, Fla., Thomas P. Ricotta of Roanoke, Va., Christopher J. (Jody) Ricotta of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Laura A. (Glenn) Rudd of Tallahassee, Fla. and Constance (Tui) Ricotta-Chumlongluk of Jupiter, Fla; seven grandchildren: Glenn Rudd, Jr., Jenna Hall, Lauren Rose Sanborn, Elise Ricotta, Taylor Spellman, Marissa Worsley and Elle Chumlongluk; and eight greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Phillip S. Ricotta.

The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019, in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, Falconer.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Jananzek, pastor of the church will be celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Jamestown, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: the U.S Marine Corps POW-MIA or the American Cancer Society or VNA Hospice or a charity of choice.
