Wilbert O. Cooper

He was born Oct. 9, 1933 in Collierstown, Va., a son of the late Garfield and Evelyn Bannister Cooper.

Before retiring in 2006, he was employed by the City of Jamestown Sanitation Department for 36 years,

Wilbert is survived by his four sons: Charles (Linda) Glover, Michael (Lisa) Glover, Allan (Georgina) Glover, Joseph (Jody) Glover Sr.; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren; a sister Ophelia “Dolly” Payne of Lexington, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoeAnn Hayhurst, whom he married Dec. 20, 1974, and who passed away on Feb. 27, 2008; five brothers; and six sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Phelps, Hospice Chaplain will officiate.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Hospice for their compassionate care of Wilbert, especially Michelle and Kim.
