Richard D. “Rick” Anderson Jr.

Richard D. “Rick” Anderson Jr., 55, formerly of Jamestown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with his best friend, Midge at his side.

He was born Aug. 16, 1963, in Jamestown, a son of Jean Lois Hall Anderson and the late Richard D. Anderson, Sr.

Rick was a 1981 graduate of Jamestown High School and received his bachelor’s degree in nursing at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. He moved to Erie in the early 2000s to work as a flight paramedic for Lifestar, his passion, and served surrounding Erie hospitals.

He then went on as a traveling nurse in many states before obtaining his residence in Fort Lauderdale and becoming employed at Holy Cross Hospital.

Rick loved the healthcare profession and was extremely good at it. He always took it very seriously.

Rick also loved living in Florida, and often teased his siblings that he left behind in New York about the beautiful weather he was experiencing. He had a great affection for dogs, especially his beloved dog, ‘Brandi’.

Surviving is his mother, Jean Lois Hall Anderson of Jamestown, whom he loved immensely; two brothers: Kevin (Pam) Anderson of Indiana and Randy (Nancy) Anderson of North East, Pa.; three sisters: Kathy (Greg) Carlberg of Frewsburg, Robin (Dan) Rowicki of Jamestown and Amy (Dave) Anderson of Falconer; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, whom he adored; as well as his best friend and travel companion, Dorothy “Midge” Maloney, with whom he resided.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Sr., who died Jan. 2, 1992.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Douglas Penhollow of the Jamestown Community Church will officiate. Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lind Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
