Rodney Lynn Damon

Rodney Lynn Damon, 69, of Montevallo, Ala. passed away on Thursday Jan. 31, 2019. Rodney was born Sept. 23, 1949. He was born in Jamestown, New York and moved to Alabama in 1980 where he pursued a career in structural steel detailing. Rod served 6 years in the Air Force Reserves from 1968 to 1973 and was recognized as a Staff Sgt. at the end of his service. He loved traveling to Gatlinburg, and collecting unique functional items. He also loved Nascar, his favorite driver was No. 20 Tony Stewart.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Violet and Richard Damon.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 48 years, Cheryl Schultz Damon; daughters; Renee Boothe (Ike III), Nicole Damon, and Kelly Toth (Aaron); grandchildren, Snowy, Kayci, Nathan, and Dylan Forrest, Zac Brantley, Memphis Masters, and Logan Toth; siblings, Daniel Damon (Fran), and Lori Dahlgren (Erik); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law, and friends.

Rod was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service was held for Rod on Saturday March 23, 2019 in the chapel at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo).
